Stampin Celebration Challenge time!

Hey there stampers,

Hope you are having a great Monday!  We have an awesome sketch for you today at Stampin' Celebration Challenge!  Are you a subscriber to our e-mail's?  You SHOULD!  It's a great way to get the reminder every two weeks for our latest challenge.  You can do that on the right side of the screen under subscribe!

We have a fantastic sketch for you this week.

Isn't it great?  I loved the starting point for creating my latest card.

I decided that I would use a different shape than the diamond shape.  And I have had some inspiration from our latest heat wave here in Ontario, Canada.  So, I chose to make some summertime fruit on the front my card.  Here it is...

Can you see the resemblance?  One big shape in the center, three layers and my greeting below and to the left of my shape.  I was really in the mood for a fresh, clean and fun summertime card.

I used my Circle thinlits to create the watermelon, my tiny heart punch for the seeds and I used the brand new Thoughtful Banners and coordinating Duet Banner Punch - awesome choice for your collection because it can be used for SO many occasions!  :)

I embossed the Whisper Whte paper using the Large Poka Dot Embossing Folder.  And finally I tied a bow using some White Linen Thread.

Hope you enjoyed my card.  Be sure to play along with us at Stampin' Celebration Challenge - we are looking for some guest designers and you could be chosen!

Teacher Thank you!

Hey there!

I realized that I didn't share the teacher and bus driver thank you presents that my kids gave away this year.

I wanted something simple, but tasty and good.  So, I decided to buy giant chocolate bars from my favourite chocolate maker and make some cute teacher-like tags to with them.

Here are the thank you's my kids took with them to school on their last day.

I wrapped each chocolate bar with a Night of Navy Belly band, and then wrapped that in our pretty white ribbon with a giant bow.

The tags were made using the Ornate Tag Topper Punch, the Water colour words stampset and the mini star punch to add a little gold star!  Perfect for the best teachers and bus driver's kids (and their parents) could ask for.  :)

I had my kids hand write their own message on the back of each tag.  Here is the message my youngest wrote for his teacher.  I think his penmanship would have been much better had I not attached the tag before he wrote his message - opps.   The part I love the most....his signature "writin by"  lol.  Despite his spelling mistake, I think it is SO cute!

Stampin' Celebration Challenge time!

Hello friends,

Did you join us last time for our Stampin' Celebration Challenge?  No?  Well join the fun!  We are currently looking for some new guest design team members and if you are selected you are going to love getting to preview our challenge inspiration and work ahead.

So, what do we have in store for this challenge?  It's is some summer picture fun.  You are going to have fun creating with this picture inspiration.....

Look at all that red and white gingham, burlap, crumb cake, picnicy and summer time fun!  I love it all and I just didn't know where to begin!   So, I decided to focus on the picnic theme and the colours.  Here in Ontario, it is in the prime of strawberry season!  I hope I can get out there and pick some soon or I will miss out.  There are tons of churches offering some strawberry dinner fundraiser and so I couldn't resist added some to my card.  Here is what I came up with.....

I just love this colour combo!  This card was very fun to make.

I used my Sweetheart punch and the retired Full Heart punch to make the strawberry shapes.  The dot stamp from Sunburst Sayings was perfect to make the seeds and the Petite Petals Punch gave them the little leaf topper.

I couldn't resist using the retired Berry Basket die to make the carton to hold the strawberries and my hello stamp is from the set is from the retired Perfect Pennants stampset.

Please be sure to join us at Stampin' Celebration Challenge

Blogging Friends Blog Hop - Summer time!

Hey there stampers,

Know what today is?  It's time for another blog hop with my blogging friends!  On the first of every month, we do a hop through our blogs and share some wonderful projects with you.  Simply work your way through the list of bloggers at the end of everyone's post or click on the picture labeled 'continue on Blog Hop' also near the end of everyone's post.  I am looking forward to seeing the projects everyone made!

This month's theme is Summer time.  For me, being July 1st and all, the perfect summer time theme is to celebrate is Canada's birthday!  So, if you are Canadian, happy Canada Day!  If you are hopping over from another country, please allow me to indulge in a little patriotic birthday celebration.....Canada is 149 today! :)

To celebrate, I made a happy Canada day card. For those of you not celebrating Canada's birthday, the techniques I used can be added to any card or scrapbook page.  Here is my card...

Of course, I used our traditional Canadian colours of Real Red and Whisper White and added some Crumb Cake and Black wording to emphasize them.
So, I started with a Crumb Cake card base and then added a layer of Real Red, then Whisper White embossed with the Brick Wall Embossing folder - I just LOVE this folder!  I added some Crumb Cake splatter using the Gorgeous Grunge Stampset for a bit of a graffiti look.
I used the Leaflets Framelits to make my red maple leaf, the word 'happy' is from the Hello You Thinlits and the word day is stamped right onto the embossed cardstock.  It is the second half of 'birthday' that I coloured using the stampin' write marker instead of stamping it onto the inkpad.

This was a really fun card to make.  Thanks for stopping by.
Now hop on over to Rick's blog to see what he has created for us!
