Blogging Friends Blog Hop!

Oh my gosh!  I am SO excited to be participating in my second blog hop with my Blogging Friends Blog Hop!

Our theme, this month, is to share a little bit about who we are and show our crafting space!  This is the first time I am sharing my crafting space on my blog and, I have to confess, I am a wee bit nervous about it!

First, let me tell you a bit about me......I have been enjoying paper crafting for about 10 years and scrapbooking is my first love.  I became a Stampin'UP! demonstrator 5 years ago when my neighbor introduced me to the wonderful world of Stampin'UP!  I host card classes in my home twice a month and I am a very lucky demonstrator who appears on Daytime TV with my local Roger's TV station several times a year showcasing Stampin'UP!, it's fabulous products and the creations I have made with them.  I have to tell  you - it is TONES of fun!

I am the wife to my wonderful husband and the mother to 3 very active and fun loving boys.  My family is my pride and joy!  We are a really busy family, spending A LOT of time in hockey arenas and, this year, at the ski hill as well.  I also have a day job as a Human Resources professional at one of our local school boards.   (Warning - proud mom moment next.)  Here is a pictures of each of my boys doing what they love best.....

my oldest..

My middle....

...and my baby...

Now, onto what you really want to see - my crafting space!  I will start by saying it is VERY modest - tucked into the space at the bottom of the stairs in our basement.  It is a work in progress with little bits done here and there.

The first picture is what you see as you come down the stairs.  The cabinets on the left were hand-me-downs from my mom's sewing room and provide lots of great storage.  I have paper storage on the right in some wonderful racks I bought from a scrapbooking store that was going out of business.  I store my scraps in these racks as well.  I place them in plastic sleeves and keep them with the full sheets so they are all together - it saves me from wasting paper!

I use my Grandma's old table as a Big Shot station.  The tote bag on top of the table I use to gather my card class supplies and carry them upstairs - I host my classes in my living room where I can accommodate up to 12 ladies.  The blue tote under the table is what I use to bring my projects and tools when I visit my friends at Roger's TV.  The other bags under the table house my scrapbooking projects.
And this blue armoire is where I do all of my creating - it is literally tucked under the stairs.  (I try not to feel like Harry Potter lol)  Anyway, I bought this second hand and my wonderful hubby retro-fit it to turn it from a TV cabinet to a crafting space.
Here is a picture of the inside.  Hubby added the pull out work table and moved the drawer up from the bottom of the cabinet.
I use this big space for my light, my inkpads, my markers, blocks and scrubbers.
My pull out work table always has my work mat and my trimmer and usually my latest project.
The drawer under my table looks like quite a mess here in this picture, but houses my punches, ribbons, adhesive and twine.

Here is the inside of the tall white cabinet.  The top shelf has all of my punch boards, picture frames I use for Roger's TV and my embossing folders are in the center photo box.  Second shelf has my second Big Shot and all of my bigz dies and specialty platforms.  Third shelf has bulky ribbon and framelits in the basket.  Forth shelf has all of my business supplies.  Finally, the last shelf has all of my reference books and magazines.
The second white cabinet is dedicated to all of my stampsets.  I try to keep them organized but I have to be honest and say that I don't always put them back where they belong.
On top of my stampset cabinet are my embellishments and my bulky tools.

Whew!  I think that is my longest post, ever!  Thanks for sticking with me!  Now hop on through to the rest of my hopping friends and see their wonderful craft spaces.  I am hoping to learn a few things and get some great ideas!

Spring Birthday with Global Design Project!

Hey there,

I have a birthday card to share with you today.  I made it using CASE the Designer challenge over at Global Design Project.  They have a really fun card from Michelle Last to CASE.  Here is her adorable card!

Super cute, eh?  The colours, the darling little butterfly and did you notice the shaker? I decided to CASE the layout.  But also tried for super cute!  :)  I hope you can see the resemblance...

I started with the DSP and picked the other colours based on itI love lots of layers on a card so layered some yellow cardstock between the cardbase and the DSP.   I love using the tag topper punch to create a tag for the front of a card - it can be used as a bookmark afterwards.

LOVE this little greeting.  It is from the Sale-a-bration stampset Hello.

Be sure to stop on over to Global Design Project to see all of the great creations CASEing Michelle's card.

Happy Birthday with Retro Sketches

Hey there stampin' friends,

So glad you have stopped by today - I have a really fun card to share with you!  I received this sketch challenge in my e-mail from Retro Sketches and just had to create a card with it!

Fun sketch isn't it?
 Here is my card...

I wanted to use some fun colours so I took my cue from the DSP stack Pretty Petals.  I picked 2 patterns that had similar colours and alternated them for the back strips of paper.  My card base is Mint Macaroon.

The leaf image is from Crazy About You and the butterfly is from Papillon Potpourri.  I stamped in Calypso Coral onto Calypso Coral cardstock.  My greeting is from Teeny Tiny Wishes.

Be sure to stop on by Retro Sketches to see all of the wonderful cards created using this sketch!

Stampin Celebration Challenge

Hey there stampers...

It's Stampin' Celebration Challenge time!  Did you join us last time for our picture inspiration?  This week we have a really great sketch to play along with.  I LOVE sketch challenges.

Here is the sketch...

What is the first stampset that comes to mind for you?  There are so many options!  I first thought of balloons and birthdays.  You can never have enough birthday cards!  So with that in mind, here is the card I created using this sketch....

I wanted to create something birthday and I thought right away of my little paper stack that I have been neglecting lately.....Cherry on Top!  I love the bright, bold colours in this stack - perfect for a birthday card!

My card base is Crushed Curry, with a layer of Whisper White, then Bermuda Bay which I embossed with my Decorative Dots Embossing folder.  The layer of DSP running width way across the center of my card, is topped with some Vellum Cardstock that I stamped my greeting directly on.  (Be sure to leave some extra drying time when stamping directly on Vellum.)  My balloon and greeting are stamped with Watermelon Wonder.

Finally, I added some Crushed Curry Bakers twine to my balloon and popped my balloon up using dimensionals.

Be sure to see all of the wonderful creations the design team at Stampin' Celebration Challenge has made using this sketch.  AND be sure to play along - there are 2 whole weeks to join the fun!

Thanks for stopping by!

The Friday Mashup - Valentines Style

The Friday Mashup has a really fun challenge for us this week - Valentines and Candy - what a perfect match up!

Here is the challenge.....

Great picture, isn't it?!  I am totally lovin' the valentines treats.

SO, I thought I would share my 3D project that I made for my most recent appearance on Daytime, Roger's TV.  Here is my project...

I used the Baker's Box Thinlit to create this treat holder.

Do you have the Baker's Box Thinlit?  I think this might be my favourite!  I love the size of the box - perfect for just the right amount of treats....even a cupcake.  AND it is on sale until tonight at midnight

I used the Note Tag punch, Groovy Kind of Love stampset with coordinating Sweetheart punch and Love Blossoms Embellishment kit to help decorate the box.  The patterned paper is from the Love Blossoms DSP stack.

The box on the left is the one we made live on TV.  :)

Here is a video from Stampin'UP! about the Baker's Box Thinlit.

Be sure to stop by and see of the wonderful Friday Mashup creations here!

Valentines Daytime, Roger's TV

Happy Valentine's day!

I have projects to share with you today from my most recent appearance on Daytime, with Roger's TV.

But, I have to confess, that I forgot my camera on that day, so a few of my pictures aren't great quality...I took them with my phone.

I used some really great tools, paper and cardstock to create my projects for the show. I showcased the Love Blossoms DSP stack and lots of different glimmer paper.

Lovin' the Bloomin' Heart Thinlit!  So beautiful in person.  I made some 4 x4 cards with the heart as the focal point.  I emphasized them with the Wink of Stella pen for some added glitter.  I made some arrows with some sucker sticks and punches.  This is perfect for Valentines, but can you picture is for a wedding card or wedding shower card?

I also made some cute valentines for the kiddo's using the You're Sublime stampset.  This stampset is SO 'kid-friendly'!  Perfect for the kids to help with some stamping and colouring and these stamps have some 'oh so cute' sayings.  The coloured card base is 2 1/4" and the Whisper White card is 2" once folded.

And here are the insides.

I made some candy sleeves with some cute little tags.  There was a quartet of 7-10 year olds on the show that day, so I was sure to give them each one as well as the camera people who are always so friendly and helpful.
My final picture is of the hosts using my display to shoot a commercial for the next day's show.
Be sure to stop back tomorrow to see the 3-D project I made for the show.

 Happy Valentine's day!

Stampin Celebraion Challenge

Hi there my stampin' friends,

Thank you for stopping by today for this really fast post.

I am excited to share with you the latest Stampin' Celebration Challenge with some really cute picture inspiration......Love Valentines?  this one is for you!

Check out these pictures....

What did you see first?  I saw the pink and blue colours and those hanging 3D hearts!  I just LOVE them!

So here is the card I created....

I liked how it turned out.

I used my Sweetheart punch to punch out 3 different patterned paper hearts for each of the 3D hearts.  The DSP I used was the new Love Blossoms DSP stack from the Occasions Catalogue.

The colours in the DSP were almost a perfect match to the colours in the inspiration photos.....all but the blue.  So, I added a blue, Marina Mist, layer to my card base with a Whisper White layer in-between.

My greeting is from And Many More.

I hope you enjoyed my card.

Now get on over to Stampin' Celebration Challenge  and join the fun!

Happy Stampin'
